This job not only gives the author immense satisfaction but encourages the author to make the book more perfect and up to date. For this reason, I am really glad to make publication of Fifth Edition of this book within a period of bit more than two years from the last edition.

Few amendments have taken place very recently in the West Bengal Thika Tenancy (Acquisition and Regulation) Act, 2001 and the West Bengal and
Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal Act, 2005 since the publication of the last of this book. Consequently, in this edition, I have made sincere efforts to update those laws which have been amended along with comments in appropriate places. Again, in this edition, I have incorporated lots of recent case laws from (2017 to 2020) falling under different land related legislations of West Bengal.

I have encouraged by a large number of persons and therefore, I owe a deep sense of gratitude to all of them. I sincerely appreciate the operation and
active support of the publishers and their staff in bringing out the new edition of this book
